Comfort Suites Miami - Kendall

We got stuck in Miami because of the storm in NJ, and my Bestie and I were glad we picked this hotel. The whole property was very clean and clearly well cared for. Natalie at the front desk was amazing, always smiling and ready to help. Alexander, Naylee, and Betsy from the kitchen kept the place clean and the food coming, and they all made us feel welcome. Gregori, the manager, was around and made guests feel welcome too. The team deserves credit for running a well-organized, guest-focused place. I had an excellent stay and would happily return.

The breakfast was very good, and they kept everything stocked well into the late morning. Our room was clean and had plenty of toiletries and what we needed for our stay. The staff were really friendly, and the hallways were clean and looked after. A few room items need updating. The curtain rods came off their hooks if touched, and with a $150 room deposit, that made me hesitant to touch them at all. The hallway air fresheners were also so strong they could make you feel sick if you stayed there too long. Still, it was a very nice place to stay.

The room was huge for the price, with two Queen beds, a fridge, microwave, couch, and lots of space. It was very clean, and the pillows and mattress were comfortable, though one bed squeaked whenever we moved. Check-in was quick. I did think it was odd that the handicapped parking spaces were farther from the entrance than the “member” spots. The morning started badly when I found there was no hot water at 6:30. I tried the shower, then both the bathroom and mini-kitchen sinks, with the same result. A man at the front desk apologized and said they would fix it ASAP. We went to breakfast, but the waffle maker was a mess. I sprayed it first, but when the timer went off the waffle was stuck. A breakfast worker tried too, and after a couple of minutes got a clump of waffle scraps onto my plate. It didn’t look or taste like a waffle. We went back to the room about 20 minutes later and still had no hot water, so we checked out without showering. At the desk I explained the problem, and the girl asked why I hadn’t reported it. She apologized, then said I was the only one complaining and maintenance didn’t come in until 8, so there was nothing they could do anyway. It’s a decent place at a good price, but starting the day without a shower was miserable.

The hotel itself is dated, but the staff's professionalism and customer service made up for its imperfections. During a time when the airlines were canceling over 90% of flights, the manager and the front desk customer service rep went above and beyond to accommodate us. I really appreciated how they treated us.
