Rooms are priced competitively, and the Miami location is within reach of some places. The TV in the room has special features and was a highlight. But some appliances don’t work, and the parking area by the house needs cleaning. Getting into the rooms and feeling secure when leaving them is difficult. That could be better if the manager explained how things work and dealt with problems, but the owner or manager, Carlos I think, can be unresponsive, unclear, and inefficient. At times he seems not to care or make an effort to solve things, which is frustrating.
I left in under an hour and went to a hotel instead. The place felt noisy and unsafe, with people wandering around outside my door and shouting. It was advertised as a whole house, but I got a dirty room without a bathroom. The area felt unsafe too. The AC didn’t work, there was no Wi-Fi despite the free Wi-Fi listing, and getting the house key was difficult. The owner was hard to reach and pretty unresponsive. All in all, a terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend it.
The room was right by the entrance, and noise came through the gap above and around the door. I couldn’t sleep well because I could hear people coming and going. The bed had plastic under the sheets, which I think made it feel very hot even with the AC running, and the base creaked whenever I moved. There was one Haïtian restaurant I found within walking distance, La Fourchette. I felt the area was a bit sketchy at night. It wasn’t well lit, and a group of men were drinking in the parking lot by a nearby garage/convenience store. Two followed me to the restaurant. The bathroom and shower were shared. The toilet blocked and I had to use a plunger. Once I realized I couldn’t fix it myself, I called the manager, who quickly sent someone. In the middle of the night, I went to the bathroom and found a giant poop 💩 that hadn’t been flushed. I booked this room thought hotels.com, so it wasn’t clear to me that it was a guest house rather than an actual hotel.
They don’t communicate well, and they wouldn’t work with me when my flight was delayed and I needed to check in after 11pm. They kept my money even after saying they’d refund it. Don’t book with them.
The owner was aggressive and very unhelpful. This listing is a scam, and I’ve reported it to hotels.com. It’s a run-down home in a run-down neighborhood, advertised falsely as a hotel with AI photos. The property is in bad shape, with bugs, a construction vehicle in the yard, and broken-down vehicles out front. Inside, it’s dilapidated and extremely dirty. Do not stay here.
