Real Living Residences

The location close to Wynwood was the only good thing, though we didn’t feel especially safe in the area. The place was worn out from being in an old building and rented out, and it wasn’t cleaned to the standard a hotel or Airbnb should meet. I drove to the nearby Target to buy cleaning supplies because I didn’t trust what they’d left for washing dishes and other cleaning. The bedding was stained, so I’m not sure how it had been cleaned. The owners should put money into maintenance, like painting, because the place doesn’t show well.

There was no staff in the evening, only a security guard at the front desk, and the sign outside didn’t show the hotel name, so it was hard to tell if we’d found the right place. The first thing we noticed in the room was dry blood stains on the bathroom floor. The “security guard” said they couldn’t do anything and that cleaning service would cost extra. Later, when we pulled back the sheets to go to sleep, there were blood stains on them too. This place is a health hazard. I don’t know why the cleaning standards are so low and subpar. If it hadn’t been so late, we would have gone somewhere else.

We loved the area, and the apartment had some nice features, but the condition and cleaning were nowhere near acceptable. The balcony was so dusty that I had to wash my feet after walking onto it barefoot. Inside, the walls were scuffed and the paint was peeling, and the toilet paper holder was broken. There was black mold around the shower and dirty grout. I also saw a live silverfish in the bathroom and a dead one under the sink. The coffee machine was grimy, with residue in the filter holder and dried coffee on the heating plate. It brewed so slowly that it needs a vinegar or other acidic cleaner to clear the blockage. We can’t recommend this place. It’s shameful.

The loft itself was generally satisfactory, but I wouldn’t stay with Living Residences again because there was no useful management support when we needed it. Afterward, they didn’t follow up about our complaint until I emailed to describe how poorly we’d been treated, and even then there was no apology or offer to make things right. At about 2 a.m. on Saturday, loud music started vibrating through the loft, as if a concert were happening next door. One of us had an early flight, and nobody could sleep through it. I called Living Residences and was told there was no staff in the building to help. They said I’d have to find the room the music was coming from myself. It kept playing, and our sleep was ruined. In their later email, Living Residences said they only occupied two floors, so the noise might have come from another unit. They also said that without a unit number they couldn’t call a guest, and that even with one, a guest probably wouldn’t answer at that hour. That response left me with the impression they thought nothing could be done. This lack of on-site help raises real concerns. What if a toilet stopped working, someone encountered a drunk or aggressive resident, or there was a theft? They seem to think guests aren’t entitled to support at all. I don’t usually leave reviews this negative, but future customers should know what they may be taking on. If I’d known, I would have booked a hotel where customer service is a priority.
