Sunshine Inn Motel

The location worked well for me, and the stay was fine since I only needed the basics. The woman on the property was very sweet, though she speaks very little English, so communication can be difficult if you don't know Spanish. There’s no phone in the rooms, and if she answers but you can’t communicate, that’s where things stop. They don’t clean or restock the rooms, so plan on getting anything extra you need yourself. If you’re after a simple place to sleep with a convenient location and good value, it may suit you. For a bit more comfort, I’d look elsewhere.

We ended up leaving without checking in because the place and area made us feel unsafe. The motel looked rundown and vacant, and the neighborhood was rough. The office was shut at 9 a.m., with no one around, no message, and no contact number posted. A resident who saw us looking lost kindly called the owner for us. We were told we couldn’t check in early because the room was occupied and hadn’t been cleaned, so we booked a different room instead. The owner refused to refund us. I should have taken the flat-tired truck sitting outside as a warning. This property is a rip-off. Don’t waste your money.

Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the room was clean. They brought us a blanket when we asked. There wasn’t anyone to call if we needed something else, which was unusual, and the TV only had local antenna channels. It didn’t feel like a typical hotel. We were there over Super Bowl weekend, so the price was higher than usual.

The newer rooms look much nicer inside than the main office. The woman at the desk was friendly, though she doesn’t speak English. This place is fine for one night, but check-in and checkout aren’t available around the clock.
