The Biscayne Hotel

We were very disappointed. The manager kindly arranged a room that worked for us, but it looked nothing like the photos on the site. We had a large king bed and a minibar, plus a spacious shower area in the bathroom, though its fan was extremely loud. Storage was almost nonexistent: no shelves or drawers, just a bar with three hangers. The door was also very hard to open. There was only one bedspread being used as a blanket, and when we asked the front desk for another, nobody was at reception. My husband eventually found someone, who told us, “this is what we provide,” when asked about extra blankets. If there are rooms that actually match the pictures, I hope someone else gets to enjoy one.

We needed somewhere near the port before our cruise, and this place did the job. It was quiet, apart from passing traffic, and the owner was pleasant. The room had the basics, though the tub needed patching and the rooms felt dated. Our shower definitely wasn't the glass one shown online. Getting our four heavy suitcases up the stairs was a pain since there are no elevators. Parking is extremely tight, though our Uber driver managed it. Someone along the walkway was smoking marijuana and the smell was strong.

The location is handy, with food and other things nearby, but parking is awful. Inside, the floors were dirty, so I kept my slippers on, and the bathroom was terrible. The tub looked badly beaten up, the walls were paper thin, and we could hear toilets flushing through the pipes. Staff seemed to know nothing. The online photos are misleading too: there was no pool and none of the amenities they claimed. This felt like a trap house. Don't visit.

For one night at that very low price, this was acceptable. We kept our expectations modest and were generally satisfied. The room was simple but fine for a short stay, and the woman at reception was genuinely warm and friendly, which was a bright spot when we arrived. Sleep was interrupted by loud shouting in the hallway at night. It seemed some guests may be staying long term. Still, for just one night and what we paid, it worked out.
