La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Miamisburg Dayton South

We couldn't feel safe here, so after all the problems we left for another hotel, wasting our money. The front desk guy was kind and brought us new bedding, but that didn't make up for everything else. There was blood on the beds, bugs under the sheets, peeling paint, no shower handle, and no smoke detector. The whole place reeked of smoke, from the lobby to the rooms, and the walls and floors looked abandoned. Power kept cutting out every ten minutes or so. The water temperature seemed stuck at one setting, and barely any water came out. The hotel was under construction, with debris in the parking lot, and the pool was just gone. It felt like fleeing a disaster movie, only with more bedbugs.

We were woken early Friday by loud construction and a man on a ladder right outside our window. When we arrived, I hadn't known the hotel was being worked on, but building materials were scattered around both the parking lot and lobby. I had booked a smoking room online, only to learn after arriving that they'd stopped offering smoking rooms at the first of the year. Parts of my room had been patched up, and I was scared to use the elevator because a few times I thought it wouldn't open. My key cards stopped working halfway through the stay, and the vending machines wouldn't take change. Breakfast was awful: just waffles and cereal, with no drinks, no butter, and no syrup left. The cereal was stale. I woke up Sunday with bug bites on my arm. I'd never stay here again. My car would've been more comfortable, and I could've saved a few hundred $$. I also read the other reviews where management apologized and said they'd do better. Those were from months ago, and the same problems seem to be here still. They should remove the photos of the breakfast they're claiming to offer; it feels like more false advertising. Quality Inn is an ironically laughable name.

Our group had to stay here because these rooms were on the list of places contracted for us, and there were no other available rooms on the list. The rooming department had already received 8 complaints before I filed mine. We had three rooms, and the hotel was filthy and in bad repair. In my room, the mattress had stains, including one large red mark that might have been blood, and it was covered by two mattress covers. The curtain had come off its rail, and although I asked the front desk to fix it, nothing happened. There was dirt built up around the sink floor, and the room smelled moldy. The glass in both the lobby and our room was dirty. Hallway carpets were badly stained and had holes 3 to 6 inches across. A lobby toilet had brown buildup, a friend saw a bedbug in her bathroom, and wiping the door handles turned our disinfecting wipes black. A dead bird was on the sidewalk when we checked in; we reported it, but it stayed there for all three days. The elevator edges were filthy, and the front desk was left unattended. There was also a sober living group staying at the hotel, and a sheriff with a canine came in while we were there. After I got home, fear of bringing bedbugs back meant washing all my clothes and leaving my suitcase in my car. I complained to Choice hotels and the manager after we left, and they offered one night's refund. It was an awful experience that ruined my trip.

The hallway was dark when we checked in, so we didn't see how dirty it was. In the room, there were large water stains on the ceiling from a roof leak, the toilet ran all night, and the mattress had a hole. The lights and TV weren't plugged in. When I told the woman at checkout how bad the room was, she said the guy was new and didn't know about it. That's no excuse. If a room isn't ready to rent, it should be marked out of service in the computer.
