Days Inn Middleboro - Plymouth

For a budget hotel, the stay was pretty good. The room fit four, with two beds, a sofa, desk, microwave, coffee maker, 42-inch TV with DirectTV, and a small fridge. It was clean and looked decent, though nothing fancy. There’s a pool, free WiFi and breakfast. We paid about 150, and the outside view was average.

I’ve never stayed in a dirtier or stranger hotel. The outside gave me no clue how grimy it was inside, and everything smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and it clearly hadn’t been cleaned: there was decomposing fruit and a couple of drinks in the fridge, residue on the desks and rugs, and the bathroom shelves were missing, with holes left in the wall. In the hallway, a cleaning cart left a trail of nasty liquid, and I even saw some larvae. The hallway windows were cracked and needed repair. They charge $25 a night for a pet, but the pet bathroom is just a little three-sided fenced area with cigarette butts and trash left behind. If you need fresh towels, you have to go downstairs to the office and exchange your dirty ones. That felt weird to me. Breakfast was frustrating too, since it took them more than 15 minutes to refill muffins and other buffet items. There were people hanging out by the side of the hotel, drinking and barbecuing, and I got the impression some people lived there because kids’ bikes were stored at the ends of the hallways. I picked this place because it said pet-friendly, but I’d stay somewhere else next time, even if it meant being farther from King Richards Faire.

My room was disturbed every day even though I had the privacy sign on the door. The floor in my room and the hotel hallway looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed, and the lobby doors were stuck. Staff watched while I struggled for several minutes to pry one open to get back in. There was loud Spanish music outside my window, with people partying in the parking lot on a Tuesday night. The room next door also had an alarm clock going off all day and night. Front desk employees said there was nothing they could do. Such an unpleasant stay.

The employees were lovely, really friendly and helpful. But after a few nights, my husband and I had bedbug bites all over our skin. It’s awful, and now we’re worried we’ll bring them home. We called to tell management, but they denied it could have happened. Check where you’re sleeping before you turn in.
