For an overnight work trip, the hotel was nice overall. I’d reserved a king-size bed for my end-of-year meeting at the Courtyard Marriott in Miramar, but got a room with two beds instead. I decided not to go back downstairs and ask to change it. When I checked out, the man at the counter said he’d email my receipt. I need it for my work travel expense report, but it still hasn’t arrived.

The only real plus was being close to base. I’ve spent about 100 nights a year in hotels for the past 10 years, and this was the bottom of the barrel. At arrival they couldn’t scan my credit card and wanted to make a copy, which I refused. I waited 30 minutes for a key before they finally issued an emergency one. One of the two elevators had been out of service for two weeks, and they were still waiting for repairs. Once in the room, I got repeated knocks and calls on the room phone while trying to catch up on business calls. The TV had no picture or sound on regular channels, only the streaming apps. At the desk I was told the repair person had been called two days earlier and would be there soon. They gave me a free drink card, but at the bar I was told it covered only draft beer, even though I’d ordered a nonalcoholic drink. I checked after dinner and the TV still didn’t work. In the morning there was no hot shower water either. After meetings, I came back to a hot room and found housekeeping had turned off the AC, which had also been off when I first checked in. There was an apology note saying they’d removed the drink from my bill, plus a bag of chips. I’d paid cash, so that didn’t make sense. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

This happened today, MONDAY JANUARY 19 , 2026. My boyfriend was already in our reserved room and gave me the key, but when I tried to go in, staff treated me like a thief or someone suspicious. They denied me access and locked the door. When I finally got in, a security guard stood in the elevator and blocked my way. A woman at reception, young or something like that, said she would call the police, and security was called. I had to phone my boyfriend so he could come downstairs and tell them to let me in. I had the key, and they were unbelievably rude. Completely unprofessional and impolite for a hotel. There obviously shouldn’t be a problem if your things are in order. What disgusting service and a terrible experience. This is the worst place I’ve ever stayed.

I arrived as early as 10 and, as a platinum member, was given a room right away. They also let me check out late, and the staff handled every request without any issue. The room was clean and fresh, and the hotel has been completely renovated. Parking was complimentary, and there was security at night. I only needed to stay one night, and it worked out great.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the hotel’s Bistro Cafe. Mrs. Elizabeth Marcelo deserves a special mention for her wonderful hospitality and beautiful singing voice, which brightened everyone’s day. The cafe and its staff deserve more than five stars. Stop by for a joyful experience.
