Cottage Suites

I’ve used Airbnb, traveled, and booked hotels plenty of times, and I’ve never been completely ghosted like this. I booked a Cottage Suite through the Expedia app for the 4th of July weekend, July 4th through 6th. It was non-refundable. After booking, I saw reviews on other booking platforms mentioning cockroaches, communication problems, and an A/C unit that didn’t work properly. What had looked like a good deal on a nice space started to feel like I might find cockroaches in my bed. I contacted the property through Expedia right away with my concerns, but got no response. The listing said check-in instructions would be emailed within 24 hours of check-in. I drove a couple of hours to the property for a nearby family reunion, but when my check-in time came on Friday, July 4th, there was no email. There’s no front desk, since it’s a food market with “suites” above it, so I needed the host to send access codes or instructions just to get in. I called and texted the number on file and got no response, and no check-in email came. I’m writing this on my original checkout date, July 6th, and still haven’t received instructions, an apology, or any message from the host. Please take the reviews about cockroaches, extremely unprofessional communication, and outright neglect seriously. I hope this saves someone money and keeps their trip from being completely turned upside down like mine.

The outlets were all broken, the fire alarm kept ringing, the fridge quit working, and then the front door lock stopped working. The host rarely answered his phone about any of it. This was probably the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, even worse than a place where I once had bed bugs. Stay very far away. I’d give it a negative rating if I could.
