Kings Castle Motel

The bed was comfortable, and both the AC and shower worked well. It was quiet enough to rest, so I ended up closing my eyes to the other details. I'm being generous with three stars. The bathroom was dirty, with hair from other guests, and there was hair on the sheets too. Live baby cockroaches were inside the fridge. I had to ask for towels because there weren't any in the room, and the WiFi barely worked unless I went outside. The man at reception, probably the owner, was grumpy. The neighborhood felt creepy. Being cheap doesn't make that dirt acceptable.

The staff were nice, though one person opened our door suddenly without knocking, apparently unsure whether the room was occupied. The AC worked very well, and the bathroom was clean, but its sink was so tiny it barely fit a toothbrush and toothpaste. We got only two towels, and they were rough on the skin. There was very little in the room beyond the basics: a small fridge, a small microwave, and five outlets, including ones used by those appliances and the bathroom. The wall had a big hole and uneven brownish-gray paint. The room itself was clean, but parking was tight, with only one space open when we arrived and room for about six cars total, including one accessible spot. Check-in also required a $20 cash deposit for the key and TV remote. Street noise was constant, with fast cars and police or ambulance sirens. In the middle of the night I heard what sounded like seven shots, followed by more sirens. The neighborhood looked unsafe, abandoned, and dirty. I booked because it was one of the cheapest hotels near where we needed to go, but it still cost over $100 a night. I didn't know the area beforehand, so you can decide based on my experience.

My room was filthy, and the attendant was rude. There were brown stains on the sheets, spider webs in the restroom, and a dirty band-aid on the floor. The bedroom was extremely dirty overall.

Good location and a clean room. It wasn't immaculate, but it was fine if you just need a quick place to rest or get it in.
