What made the difference for us was the staff. We were there for a family funeral, and housekeeping was wonderful while the front desk kept checking in to see if we were okay. Kathy, the general manager, along with Andrea, Lexi, Debbie, Jackie, and others showed us so much compassion. When they said we were like family, I could tell they meant it. The hotel itself was lovely too, with a clean, nice room, a comfortable lobby, and a good conference room. I usually hear “like family” as an empty phrase, but this felt real. I'll only stay here in the future.

Our out-of-town guests stayed at the hotel for several days and kept telling us how nice the rooms were and how much they enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. We held our daughter's pre-wedding mehndi festivities at the Holiday Inn Express in Middletown, DE, with 65 guests, using the Board Room and Conference Room for dining and the evening's events. Kathy Hoffman, the manager, and Andrea Friend, the sales coordinator, were easy to work with and always available for questions. They gladly handled last-minute changes and special requests, and let us into both rooms from the morning to decorate even though our booking was for the evening. The event went really well, and guests complimented the venue and arrangements. There's plenty of parking and the location is convenient. For a stay for out-of-town guests or a small event of around 75 people, I'd recommend the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Middletown, DE.

Andrea and the other employees were helpful with everything I needed. My room was spacious and quiet, and the breakfast staff were great. I had an amazing weekend stay and can't wait to visit again on my next trip to Delaware.

Our family came to Middletown from different places for a memorial service for someone we loved. The staff welcomed us with open arms and did more than expected to help everyone feel comfortable. They were a blessing to our family, and I'd highly recommend them.
