La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham O'Fallon, IL - St. Louis

The first room given to my family was locked from the inside at the top, as if someone was still using it. We moved to a second room, but its curtains were stained and ripped, furniture was broken, there were no towels, and the top lock didn't work. I asked for another room so I could feel that my family was safe. The third room had a working lock, but the TV was broken, there was no water in the shower, the coffee maker was missing, and duct tape was holding the floor together. It was dirty too, with stained sheets and a marijuana joint left on a shelf. We got another hotel for the remaining nights, though it was late afternoon and we stayed this night. I was told I would get a refund for the extra nights I booked, but I still haven't received it. We ended up at the Candlewood and it was wonderful. This was easily the worst hotel experience I've had, even after some bad stays. Pick somewhere else. This place needs to be shut down.

The location is handy and close to a lot of things, but the hotel didn't feel safe or well kept. Our room felt dirty and run down, and belongings from the previous guest were still there. At check-in, the front desk clerk was on her phone, which came across as unprofessional. We left and got a refund because of the condition. I don't like posting negative reviews, but this place needs work.

The one decent thing was the showerhead, which had good pressure. The shower itself was filthy and could have used Mr. Clean and his whole crew. The furniture looked like it had been through a tornado, and I don't think the hallway has seen a vacuum since the Truman administration. Every surface felt sticky, dusty, and greasy, with disgusting buildup in all the corners. Dirtiest motel this old lady has ever stayed in.

Staff were courteous, but the property needs a lot of work. The first floor had a noticeable cigarette smell, and the other floors smelled strongly of marijuana. In our room, furniture was broken, the bedding and curtains had visible stains, and it looked more worn and less clean than it should have. I rarely write reviews, good or bad, but wanted to share what happened. If I'd been staying more than one night, I would have gone elsewhere.
