Homewood Suites by Hilton Salt Lake City-Midvale/Sandy

The location was good for skiing, and the Wednesday happy hour was a nice surprise. The rest of the stay was poor. There was no TV for four days, and no maid cleaned the room during those four days even though I asked. I ended up stopping a maid in the hall and begging her to clean it. The bathroom had no shampoo, but two conditioners, and a computer in the business center didn’t work. Breakfast was about the worst we’ve had from any Hilton brand. I won’t stay here again.

The women at the counter were great, but this was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, despite traveling all over the world. My room was dirty, with old, smelly carpet throughout, and the lobby was being used for storage, pallets and boxes everywhere. I felt sick the whole time. The AC didn’t work and I sweated all night as if I were in a sauna. The windows were broken and wouldn’t stay open.

The price was fine, but I won’t return. This didn’t feel like the Hilton experience I’m used to, more like an Extended Stay America. The website was deceptive about room sizes. My room was dated, the bathroom door didn’t lock, the shower drained slowly, there was no room service, and the room amenities were poor.

There was no escaping the noise from the busy road nearby, and the hotel and bedroom had an excessive scented-carpet smell. The online photos looked reasonable, but my room was dark and awkwardly laid out. The bedroom furniture was too large, and the door between the living area and bedroom wouldn’t open all the way. I believe that’s a fire hazard. Despite the brand, I’d give this only two stars. Pass on it if you have other options.
