Hampton Inn & Suites Sandusky/Milan

The staff were very nice, and the hotel’s right off the turnpike, which made it a convenient stop on my short tour. But the stay was regrettable. The hotel is older and wasn’t as clean as I’d hoped. Pink biofilm covered the shower head, and I didn’t feel safe or comfortable showering. The room didn’t feel clean either. I complained to the manager and got half off that night’s room. I’ve stayed in houses on this tour with cleaner shower heads, and I’d expect a hotel to do better. If you can’t clean them, replace them.

The main area has been renovated, but the rooms are so-so. The beds need an upgrade because I could feel the springs. I also don’t get why chains like this don’t offer TV streaming. Regular TV is so annoying. On the plus side, the rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the staff were really friendly. It’s a decent overnight stop off the highway, though a little overpriced for the location and what you get. There’s major roadwork on the road to the hotel right now.

The rooms were nice and clean, the staff friendly, and the breakfast was in line with other Hilton properties. Getting here was somewhat difficult because of all the construction around the building. There’s also an active train track within earshot, and trains passed several times overnight with a low rumble. If you stay, book an odd-numbered room to be on the side away from the tracks. Otherwise, another great Hiltom property.

The rooms are spacious and clean, the property is well kept, and the staff are super friendly. There’s an indoor pool, which sounds great, but the water is freezing, and the hot tub is currently out of service. If you’re coming for the pool or hot tub, that could be disappointing. Aside from that, it’s a really nice hotel and a comfortable place to stay.
