Hampton Inn Milford

What really lifted my mood was Shamika at breakfast. She kept moving around, looking after everyone and making sure our little kids had what they needed. She was so kind, and her cheerful good morning and enthusiasm brightened the whole place. We were there for three days, and she was just as lovely every morning. She seems to truly care about her work and want to be there. Management should give her a raise or special paid time off. I hope good things come her way. I did have issues with the room. It didn't feel very clean, the beds had no fitted sheets so they kept coming off, and the lamp looked moldy. Those frustrations faded the next morning when we went down for breakfast.

For the price, I guess you get what you pay for. The room wasn't clean: there were hairs on the sheets and pillows, stains on the carpet, and the laminate entry floor was so dirty that when I wiped up a little water, the tissues came away black. It clearly hadn't been mopped in a while. The tub was yellowed, with what looked like mold or mildew in the caulking. Turning on the AC fan brought a strange, feet-like smell. The walls were thin enough that you could probably hear other guests, but that didn't bother us personally.

Everything was okay once they politely moved me to another room because the TV was too blue. Also, kudos to the lady serving breakfast. She was constantly checking and cleaning, greeting people, and helping them the whole time.

The room change helped a little, but even the second room smelled funky. The baby was fussy and ready for bed, so my husband told me to make do with it and leave early. After taking my socks off and walking around, my feet were damp from the carpet. In the morning, on the way to the car, we saw a room that looked like a laundry area, with its door propped open by a trash can. A foul sewage smell was coming from it, and our room was across the hall. A horrible experience. My husband, daughter, and I had been traveling for over eleven hours and stopped to rest. We chose Hampton Inn because of the brand and hoped for some quality. We'd requested a ground-floor room, and after checking in and finding parking, we went to the one they gave us. As soon as we opened the door, there was a moldy smell, like wet carpet or construction boots. I called the front desk to ask for another room. The response was, "when did you notice the smell? You need to report it immediately." I was stunned. We'd only just entered the room, and it couldn't have been more than 10 or 15 minutes since we'd parked and brought in our bags. I ignored the comment and got a key for another ground-floor room.
