Katahdin Inn & Suites

The pictures online looked alright, but our executive suite with a king bed and separate seating area was a different story. The lobby smelled like sewage even with an indoor pool ten feet from the desk. Our room smelled strongly of mold, and my husband had an asthma attack. The lock only rattled against the door and didn’t secure it. There were strange “stains” on the chairs and floor, the kitchen sink sprayed your hand from a foot away, there was pee on the back of the toilet, and hair clogs came out of the tub. We would have left right away if there hadn’t been a blizzard. When I complained at the front desk, they pointed to a sign about contacting higher management. The desk also said someone came in monthly to help with the mold, that the complaint had come up many times, and that the building should have been torn down. Higher management, Corey, told me, “I dont like people who book through expedia and you booked a non refundable rate and because of that you are expedias guest BYEEE”. Expedia contacted the hotel, which said two cleaners had been sent and “nothing was wrong with it”. The pictures speak louder than their lies. I would never recommend this hotel.

Laundry was just $2 a load, which was great after hiking in the mountains. There’s also a pool, hot tubs, and games for kids. Check-in and checkout were the easiest I’ve had at a motel: I was handed my key cards with a smile, then dropped them in the box on my way out. The staff were kind, courteous, and knowledgeable, and we had one of my best stays.

After riding in around 10, I still had loads of energy, so it was nice not to have to head straight to my room. The night worker helped me out, and we played billiards until midnight. He said it was fine as long as we kept the noise down. That made for a great night, and I appreciated how helpful and kind he was. The inn is fairly close to Baxter state park, and our group parked there and carpooled. I’d seen comments about “bad guys,” but everyone we met was kind. One guy even lent me his lighter.

The room went untouched for my entire stay, and the continental breakfast was a joke. There was nobody managing the lobby, so you had to call if an issue came up. The pool had lots of debris on the bottom, the panic bar was broken, and ceiling tiles looked ready to fall. Room 111 had bedbugs during my stay, 11 OCT 2025 - 17 OCT 2025. Management didn’t return my calls, so I notified the Millinocket Health Officer. When the manager finally called, he asked, “What are you trying to prove.” I told him I was trying to protect future guests. They said someone came in two days later and found everything perfect. Something seems awry.
