The extra $75 for our 8-year-old son was the worst part. We came as a family, and they charged him as another full guest. For a two-night stay, the 9 a.m. checkout also felt much too early, especially since we were expected to clean and vacuum the room. I understand tidying up after ourselves, but vacuuming seemed excessive. We barely spoke with the owners beyond the two-minute check-in, and there's a no-visitor policy, so you can't have a friend over for the day. There was no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. The road in was very dark and a bit hard to find if you're from out of town. It rained the whole time, making the upstairs steps really slippery. The AC sticks out far enough that you have to watch where you're walking, and I bruised my wrist on a random towel hook when I opened the shower curtain. We wanted a fun family weekend somewhere different from a typical hotel. I wouldn't recommend staying here or come back. Save your money and take the family to Arrowhead Resort in Alexandria instead.

The owners and other guests were really friendly, and the property was well cared for. We stayed in a spacious lodge room, with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom that was a nice extra. The beach area and boat lifts were nice too. Beautiful lake resort, highly recommend.

My son spent hours playing at the beach, and we had the community fire pit to ourselves, with free wood. This place seems best suited to a visit with a boat and fishing rod. The cozy, quiet room was clean and had a really nice jacuzzi bath. You're asked to spot-clean any nature you track in before leaving. We arrived without planning ahead, and Bill found a lodge room for me and my family. The staff were very friendly, Minnesota nice. No complaints from me. Thanks, Viking bay and Bill.

Even the fish cleaning shack was neat and orderly, and it didn't smell, which I've never experienced at a resort before. The place was one of the cleanest, best-kept resorts I've stayed at. Our visit overlapped with a regular week-long stay, so we got to see some of the work that usually happens behind the scenes. They work incredibly hard to look after the place, and it shows. Well done Viking Bay Resort and Lodge!

The lake is gorgeous, the owners are the nicest, and the resort is beautifully kept up. It has everything you'd want in a Minnesota resort. We love it and highly recommend it!
