Hampton Inn Parkersburg-Mineral Wells

Roxann made the stay for me. She was warm and professional when I checked in, and it was clear she takes pride in looking after guests. That sort of welcome is why I keep choosing Hilton properties when I travel around the country. The room was spotless, and the breakfast space stayed clean and stocked. The whole team seemed to work well together. The hotel itself was comfortable, tidy, and well kept, just what I needed after a long day. I travel a lot, and this location impressed me. Thanks to Roxann and the staff. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in town.

Wendy's is right beside the hotel, with Go mart and taco bell just beyond it, and Cracker barrel across the street on the diagonal. As for the stay, the bathroom was a little dirty when we checked in. The front desk girl offered another room, but I stayed put and cleaned it myself. There’s no pool. Cookies seem to depend on who’s working the desk, and I only saw them once during the whole week. The desk often seemed empty because staff were in the back, and there weren’t any snacks for sale.

The hotel is older, but it’s kept up well and my room was really clean. There are a few fast food spots close by, plus more restaurants a short drive away. This was my first time at this location since I usually stay at the Hampton nearer downtown Parkersburg. I’ll come back when I’m in the area.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, though I barely got to sleep. I’d booked for the reopening races at West Virginia Motor Speedway without knowing how late they might run. A huge crowd and the race cars meant they went late, and I left the track around 2:30 am. I tried to ask the desk about a later checkout, but nobody was available, so I went to my room. At 9 am, housekeeping knocked along the hall like a wakeup call. By then I’d had about five hours of sleep, and I was not happy. When I went down to check out and tell the staff what had happened, I also wanted breakfast before my two hour drive home. They were already taking the breakfast area apart, so there wasn’t much left. While I grabbed coffee, I told the desk clerk about it, and she said her own family had stayed there and had the same issues. Now that I’ve cooled off, I’d suggest having enough weekend staff so they aren’t rushing through their jobs and knocking at 9 am to get everyone out by the 11 am checkout. Breakfast should stay open until at least 10:30 instead of closing at 9. Very disappointed with my stay, or lack of one.
