Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mineral Wells/Parkersburg

I only needed a place for one night after deciding I was too tired to keep driving. It was a last minute choice, but I felt safe, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff seem to keep things well managed, which I appreciated, and it felt like they didn’t allow riffraff. I had the amenities I needed without having to prepare anything. Now I know which affordable place in the area I can stop at without giving up too much comfort or safety. Thanks.

The bed had stains that looked questionable, and the lower floor smelled like cigarettes. If you stayed down there long, the smell made you dizzy and feel like you were bouncing. The entrance smelled funky too, the doors were loud and didn’t sound right, and the elevator both smelled bad and sounded off.

The night staff were friendly, but the guy on the morning shift was rude and dismissive. I called to ask if anyone had found my small black fan, and he kept cutting me off and talking over me, loudly. He basically shouted into the phone, “a fan!?” I just wanted my brand new fan back and would’ve gone to pick it up. Since staff are the ones who go into rooms after checkout, either someone took it or they didn’t clean carefully enough to notice a random fan on the table between the two beds. It would’ve been nice if he’d been polite and cared about my concern. He was loud, rude, and unprofessional. Also, the hallway where we stayed smelled like feces. Gross.

The location is pretty and the staff were very helpful. I had a wonderful stay and give it five stars. I booked five days over New Year’s and look forward to seeing them again soon.
