Hampton Inn & Suites Minneapolis / Downtown

The location made getting around easy, right by the Target Center and connected to the skyway. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Everything else was good, but breakfast really let the hotel down. We didn't go back after the first morning. There were only three cereals, all with cow's milk and no alternatives. One waffle machine meant long queues, and there was only one toaster too. Bagels had no savory toppings like cheese or cold cuts. Most of the choices were sweet, with sugary toppings rather than fruit. The biscuits and gravy with sausages were awful, especially the inedible sausages. The pastries tasted old, the only fruit was apples and oranges, and the coffee wasn't good. It felt like a very low-effort breakfast. I've traveled a lot and tried all kinds, but this is the only hotel breakfast I've decided not to return to during a stay. If breakfast matters to you, I'd look elsewhere; if not, the hotel is fine.

The location was perfect for exploring, with several good bars and restaurants nearby, and we had a great view from the room. There was some street noise, as you'd expect downtown, but we still slept well. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and checkout was quick and easy. Check-in was smooth too. The woman at the desk was kind and accommodating, and upgraded our room when I mentioned I was concerned about being next to the elevators. We had a wonderful stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Minneapolis and would definitely come back.

Ms. Kelly was a keeper. She helped me work out the train route to a show and made sure I got extra towels, and check-in was a breeze. Another staff member told me about fun things to do in the heart of downtown. Such good people, and the best hotel service I've experienced. Stay here if you want great hospitality in Minnesota.

We were in town for Phantom of the opera, and the skyway made it possible to get there without needing a coat or going outside. There was security there too. Our room was spacious, quiet, and clean, and the front desk staff were fantastic. It was a fantastic stay and I'd highly recommend this place.
