La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Minneapolis-Minnetonka

The rooms have good storage, and the beds and pillows are comfortable. Staff were friendly, too. But I checked in Sunday, checked out Monday, and it's Wednesday now with no sign of my $100 deposit. The hotel says it's the bank's fault, while my bank says the hotel hasn't sent a refund.

There was moldy air, or at least it felt like walking into a room full of mold, and I don't know if it was safe to breathe. The bedsheet felt sticky. I lasted about 20 minutes before leaving. Never again, I'd rather spend my money somewhere else. I'll be waiting for the $100 deposit refund. I recorded the whole room before I left.

The staff are very friendly, and the gym is nice. The breakfast buffet was decent, just not to my taste. My parents' room had a shower curtain that was melted and full of holes. I asked for it to be replaced, but it wasn't, even though they stayed three days. In my shower, the ceiling looked like it might have mold. I'm not sure how much they can do to prevent that, but someone should clean the showerheads.

That damp, smelly room had a sound I could actually feel, like running water or a machine whirring. It kept me up all night and was incredibly annoying and distressing after a long drive. We asked to move, but the noise continued in the next room too. I chose this place because it said it was pet friendly, but it didn't feel that way. Staff said the sound came from the “engineering room,” which I don't buy. More than one employee seemed to test my dog to see how he'd react. He stayed calm, well trained, and focused through it all, while the customer service was terrible. My dog did not have an accident. I've noticed that some hotels use hidden high-frequency sounds to discourage pets, which can lead to accidents and then deposits being taken. That's a general concern from traveling with my dog, not something that happened here. Don't call a hotel pet friendly if it isn't.
