The staff are super friendly. The internet wasn’t great and the TV was small. Edit: The way they charged my card nearly drove me nuts. They split the charges in a strange way, which made the stay hard to expense, and charged my card about five separate times for the seven-night visit.

The staff are professional and give personal service while respecting your privacy. I’ve enjoyed the fresh, delicious coffee, free Wi-Fi, and free laundry, plus the business center, where the printer works. The location is handy too, within walking distance of the public bus, Walmart, and Dollar Tree. The hotel is dated from ordinary wear and tear, but it’s very clean and quiet. It’s been my best stay in the last three years. There are lots of renovations underway, and I’m looking forward to seeing the changes.

The staff have always treated us kindly, and the manager and maintenance team have been a real comfort to me. My wife died not long after we rented our latest stay, and an accident made our home unusable at the same time. I’ve now been here seven weeks while the house is repaired. When staff learned about my wife, they came around the front desk to hug me or hold my hand and offer kind words. They still ask how I’m doing when I pass through the lobby. One has helped me send documents to the insurance company electronically more than once. It’s been a Godsend. They’ve also responded quickly to requests. When I felt sick one evening, I asked the clerk if they had Pepto-Bismol. They didn’t, so the clerk went to a nearby store and got some for me. When our fridge stopped keeping food frozen, staff helped carry it to the fridge in their office, and ours was fixed the next morning. We’ve stayed at Candlewood Suites many times over the past three years. My wife was ill and particular about cleanliness, and we’ve stayed in lots of hotels between Rochester and Grand Forks, Fargo and Bismarck, even switching rooms elsewhere. In Minot she chose Candlewood. We often chose partially accessible rooms, and only twice in fifteen or more stays couldn’t get one. Maybe there are new owners, I don’t know, but the hotel is great now. New carpets and chairs have replaced worn ones, and rooms are being remodeled from floor to ceiling, one floor at a time. They’ll all be wonderful when finished. The only thing I’ve noticed that matches older reviews is that clerks after 11 p.m. are doing laundry, so you have to buzz them. I recommend Candlewood to all my friends.

The front desk staff were super friendly, the only good thing about the place. My room was filthy and smelled bad, and it needs major updates. The tables and counters hadn’t even been wiped, the floor was sticky, and the light switches and outlets were disgusting. Someone had punched a hole in the bedroom door, and they’d painted over it instead of replacing it. The bedroom TV didn’t work. Very glad I only booked one night! 🤢
