MainStay Suites Minot

The hotel is run down and seems not to be maintained. The carpet throughout was filthy and heavily stained. The first room had a very noisy AC and half the lights didn't work. The second was better, but the bathroom's towel bar was broken and missing. The pillows were throw-pillow sized, and there was only one tiny bar of soap. The East door wouldn't open with my key card, so I had to use the main entrance. Despite the convenient location, I'm unimpressed and won't stay again.

We were meant to stay at Sleep Inn, but it was overbooked, so they offered us a room here. It was decent, though the toilet seat cover was coming loose. We had a pull-out sofa but no sheets or blankets for it, so we had to ask the front desk.

I travel a lot as a wind turbine company contractor and need dependable lodging for at least a month at a time. After just one week at Mainstay Suites in Minot, I was abruptly told there were no rooms left and that someone else had booked the room I was in. Three front desk employees smirked as they told me I couldn't extend, which felt unprofessional and showed no empathy. For a hotel advertising extended stays, the poor communication was unacceptable. I'm also a loyal Choice Member with points saved up, and expected much better. This experience means I won't stay at Mainstay Suites again. Long-term reliable lodging is critical in my line of work, and this hotel failed miserably. Very unhappy customer. 😵‍💫😡

We spent almost four weeks here and had a very good stay. The free shuttle was clean and quick, and the front desk helped arrange it nicely when our flight was delayed. It arrived in 30 minutes. For a late arrival, a 24/7 shuttle is useful since there won't be Lyft in Minot after midnight. We liked the spacious king suite. It was quiet except on days with noisy upstairs neighbors, the AC wasn't loud, and the room smelled clean. It had a full kitchen, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. The coffee tasted horrible, but that wasn't a big deal to us. There was a twin-size sofa bed in the suite, but it was in pretty bad shape and we didn't use it. Breakfast had lots of choices: different eggs, sausage and potatoes daily, biscuits and gravy some days, plus hotel-style waffles, bagels, pastries like muffins, coffee cake and puff, yogurt, and milk. Cookies and fruit were also available at the front desk. Breakfast was better on weekdays than weekends. Front desk and housekeeping staff were all very nice and friendly. It's not a fancy place, more like a 2-star hotel, but it's clean and friendly, probably the best in this price range. The long-stay rate is very good.
