Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Minot

The room was decent, the bed comfortable, and the price reasonable. I knew before booking that the pool and hot tub weren't working. Breakfast was a bit disappointing because there were no eggs, bacon, or sausage, though they do have a pancake machine.

The front desk woman was great at check-in. The fitted sheet in my first room was dirty, and the desk promptly offered me another room, which was okay. The place could use a major makeover: clean or paint the walls, replace the old televisions and dirty CD-player alarm, and swap the fluorescent light above the bed for proper lamps around the nightstand. USB plugs by the bed would help, and more than one would be great. Breakfast was disappointing even for a continental spread. They had a few Danish flavors, three disposable cereals, and toast. There was a pancake maker but nothing to make pancakes. I just wanted a muffin and orange juice.

Keep your belongings with you if you leave your room for breakfast in the lobby. I found that $20 was missing, along with a bottle of liquor that seemed to have walked off on its own. I know someone who used to brag about drinking on the job while working there, so I suspect there are thieves going into rooms when guests are out. Just giving people a heads-up.

The women on staff are so kind and welcoming, and they greet you with great personalities. The building is well maintained, the hot water is truly hot, and the water pressure is pretty good. Rooms have microwaves and little refrigerators, which is great if you bring premade meals for the week like I do. The location is convenient, just across the road from Walmart, with several good restaurants nearby too. I'm going back to this same hotel for work this week and looking forward to it.
