The bed was really cozy, the room had nice amenities, and we slept wonderfully over our two nights. We also met some very nice people and staff. But we left towels out expecting them to be replaced, and nobody ever came by while we were out. There were some worrying repair jobs, too. In room 143, near the hot tub and bathtub, broken tiles had been glued together roughly. They looked bad and could cut someone’s foot. Under the sides of the bed needs vacuuming as well. At breakfast, only the hot food was well stocked, with little in the cold mini fridge. Tables should be wiped as soon as people leave. I’d also put up signs requiring shirts and shoes: around 60 percent of the visitors were barefoot, and one person wore a large blanket while serving herself, dragging it across the egg chafing dish. I’m not trying to nitpick, but having worked in food service, that set off my management instincts.

There was no sound control in the rooms, so every hallway noise and next-door guest came through. The place smelled of cigarette and cannabis smoke under a layer of air freshener, and people were actively smoking inside, so it never went away. The rooms were dirty, too: wiping a spot on the floor turned the towel black, and my dog found chocolate candies under the bed. I considered leaving around 2 a.m. to find somewhere else.

Several of us had room issues on arrival, including being nonsmokers assigned a smoking room, rusty bathtubs, and broken smoke detectors. The night desk attendant argued with two customers when they raised problems, then told a third to leave her alone and not come back to the desk during the stay. She was tucked away in an office ignoring customers, and said she hated her job. Her customer service was terrible. We were appalled. I would not recommend this place; a cardboard box would have been better.

The location is excellent for shopping and restaurants, and the staff were amazing. Night staff Amanda quickly moved me out of a first room that smelled awful, with an odor machine still in it. The second room had a strange smell too, but it wasn’t unbearable and did the job. Breakfast was hot, and staff kept an eye on it. The hotel has had some upgrades, but the hallway carpet and room paint stood out. There were stains on the walls, broken corners, and a squeaky shower head, so details in the rooms need attention. One end of the hall smelled strongly of smoke. You have to ask the desk for a hairdryer because they don’t keep them in rooms due to dishonest people.
