Comfort Inn University Missoula

We lost a lot of sleep, then spent hours trying to get money back for a stay that fell short of basic expectations. The room was directly above active renovation work, and loud hammering started around 6:30-7:00 a.m. and went on for hours. Staff acknowledged the construction, but the hotel wouldn't refund us and offered points for a future stay instead. They said the booking was through Trip.com so they couldn't refund it. Trip.com said it needed the hotel manager's approval. We were left stuck between the two, with neither taking responsibility. Management handled this badly. I don't usually blame front desk staff who are just doing their jobs, but managers should have tried to find a fair solution instead of protecting a corporation that doesn't even acknowledge their existence over someone trying to make a living. The noise made the room not reasonably usable, and refunding it could have resolved things easily. Instead, I felt like a number, not a person. It showed no flexibility or basic consideration. 10/10 failure, and I won't stay here again.

The price was very reasonable for a couple of winter nights, and breakfast was a good hot buffet. The location was convenient, too. They were remodeling during my visit, though, so expect the lobby and hallways to feel like a construction zone. See pictures.

We had a good view, and that's about the only plus. The air conditioner sounded awful all night. There was a train passing right by, which isn't really the hotel's fault. The shower had three settings: jet, mist, and ultra mist.

My partner and I arrived at 3AM on NYE after a 19-hour drive straight from AZ. We were there because of a family loss and were worn out, with our emotions already spent. It was a walk-in reservation in the middle of the night, and Liam and the Gal training him on the audit shift Tuesday night into Wednesday morning handled everything with grace and compassion that you don't often see these days. They made check-in quick, safe, and comfortable, and made sure we were looked after. As someone who worked as a FOM for Choice in Phoenix, AZ, I felt more at home here than I have anywhere else. Big applause to both of them, and to Schuyler, the FOM for this Comfort Inn. Thank you for making a hard time a little easier :)
