We are located north of I - 90 near the rich rolling farmland picturesque open prairies of southeastern South Dakota. Dakota Wesleyan University and Mitchell Technical Institute are just minutes from our hotel. Mitchell is also home to offices for Trail King Industries and Toshiba America as well as the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.

I was in town for work and would stay here again. The room was clean, with a fridge and microwave, and the shower had plenty of hot water. The staff were friendly, breakfast was available, and the parking lot felt safe and was well lit. Thanks to the Americinn By Wyndham staff for a great stay.

We paid about $115 USD before tax at the end of September 2025. A good overnight stop if you're visiting the Corn Palace. The TV was straightforward to use, and the Wi-Fi was quick, around 18 Mbps down and 13 Mbps up. Room 117's tub only got lukewarm, and the plug wouldn't stay in. Breakfast was in a small but clean area, with ham, scrambled eggs, bread, a pancake machine, cereal, and other options.

Right by the interstate, so the location is really convenient. Breakfast was pretty good, and the pool was fine, though the hot tub was broken. The rooms felt a little dated.

The clean, quiet hotel and good breakfast were welcome, but Wendy is what really turned our trip around. After a terrible stay elsewhere, we drove on and ended up meeting her at the American Inn at Mitchell. She was warm, friendly, and inviting, and gave us great directions and suggestions for things to do nearby. She's a real treasure, the kind of hotel employee others could look up to. Thanks, Wendy!

We were working on the road and this place had what we needed. The staff were super nice, the hot tub was actually hot, and the rooms were nice despite a little damage that could be fixed. The entrance was kind of goofy, and there were lots of hunters around this time of year. We'll be back. Thanks a bunch.
