Super 8 by Wyndham Mitchell

We stopped here on the way home from a fantastic vacation in Keystone, and I wish we'd pushed on despite being exhausted. I barely slept because the place smelled like a wet ashtray and the mattress crackled whenever I moved. Water was seeping up through the floorboards. They call it a "complimentary breakfast," but the cereal and bread were stale, the eggs looked dry, and the sausage was white. A sorry excuse for a Super 8, especially since that's usually what we look for when traveling.

We got the hot tub suite for a great price. The room was very clean, though a little dated, and the staff were friendly and accommodating when we checked in. It was a great room.

I slept great and would definitely stay here again. Ken at the front desk was friendly and checked me in quickly, and my room was immaculate, with everything clean and working. The price was honest, there were no surprises or frills, and there were plenty of towels. Even the door locked smoothly and there were outlets by the bed. Those basics may sound simple, but plenty of budget chain hotels neglect them. This Super Eight sets a standard other locations should aim to match. There was ample truck and trailer parking, and several restaurants nearby, including Jimmy John's and Caribou Coffee next door. Breakfast was simple, served from six to nine, with coffee, juice, and basic carbs, as you'd expect from this kind of hotel. For a one-star hotel, it deserves five.

Five stars. The room was the cleanest, check-in was fast, and the woman at the front desk was so sweet. The place is quiet, there's laundry on site, and I checked thoroughly but found no bugs. What more can you ask for?
