Moab Flats #3

We didn’t even stay overnight. The moment we walked in, the smell of cigarettes hit us, and we saw cockroaches, one dead on the floor and another crawling across it. We left and went to the Best Western across the Street. After a really long drive, I’d been looking forward to a relaxing evening, so this was an absolute disappointment.

We booked three nights over New Year’s Eve with my wife, and the place itself is perfect. Before arriving, we called to check whether the hot tub was working. A woman initially told us it was fine, but after about 10 minutes in the tub, it stopped working. We called management again and spoke with a man, who said they already knew about a leak that could cause the problem. The management, maintenance, and owner team needs to communicate better next time.

It’s a cute place, but there were actual rats inside our unit when we checked in. We didn’t sleep there.

The downtown location was great, with everything in walking distance, and parking was free. We enjoyed the easy check-in, with the passcode and Wi-Fi details sent by email. The kitchen felt like home, with a dining table, a well-stocked cabinet, pots, pans, cutlery, a fridge, and a dishwasher. The bathroom was very clean and well designed. There’s also a hot tub and bikes, though we didn’t get to try them. We had a few suggestions. Directions or a video showing how to find Home #7 would have helped, since we struggled to locate it. The bed next to the door needs a new mattress; it was the only uncomfortable one, and we could feel the springs. A fan in the living room could help, as it sometimes felt hot.
