The cabin was comfortable and well appointed, the location was stunning, and we enjoyed the food during our stay at Red Cliffs Lodge in Moab, Utah. But two days after checkout I got a surprise invoice for $50 in “destination” and parking fees. They hadn’t been expected, and left me feeling nickel-and-dimed after an otherwise wonderful stay. It’s a beautiful property with a lot to offer, so it’s disappointing that fees added after the fact left a negative final impression. Pricing needs to be transparent, and surprise charges can undo the goodwill an outstanding property creates. I hope Marriott and Red Cliffs Lodge reconsider how they communicate and charge these fees. Without this, I’d have had nothing but positive things to say.

We were lucky to get a cabin backing right onto the Colorado River. The peaceful, beautiful setting was the most relaxing ambience I’ve experienced. The restaurant’s lovely patio lets you enjoy a meal while looking at the river, and I loved having a Nespresso machine for slow mornings on the back porch, listening to birds and the water. The decor, rooms, view, and staff were all great. Joelie at the front desk was awesome. Elite members get a breakfast voucher for one main dish and a drink, coffee, tea, juice, etc., plus a $15 daily food and beverage credit. I had a great experience and would come back in a heartbeat!

Our favorite meal was the bison short rib, and the breakfast omelet was delicious. The restaurant has an excellent range of interesting dishes and craft cocktails, with an incredible view. Staying right on the river was a treat, with amazing scenery in every direction. From the patio we watched the sunrise, enjoyed quiet evenings, and even saw the occasional raft or kayak drift by. The staff were helpful and kind. The room had high-end features with charming rustic touches, and the internet worked well despite the remote location.

The hotel’s setting over the Colorado River, with scenic cliffs, is exceptional. We didn’t eat at the restaurant because we were at a conference, but the catered food was good, and the catering staff were among the best I’ve experienced. Housekeeping also gave the room a quick tidy while we were out, a service more upscale hotels should bring back. It’s about 30 minutes from Moab, in a remote, peaceful spot. The hotel has a simple ranch-like feel, while the thoughtfully curated rooms are more luxurious. The beds were comfortable.

We only had a couple of nights in November 2025, my son, his wife, and I, but it was a great experience. The rooms were clean and well designed, the restaurant served good food in generous portions, and the setting was breathtaking. The hotel, restaurant, and equestrian center along beautiful Route 128 are fantastic. I definitely recommend staying here.
