The building has charm, and they’ve done a mostly lovely job renovating and maintaining the old buildings. We stayed in the brick house beside the main building. It’s lovely and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom is a disaster, and you can only reach the balcony by going through it. The location was terrible for sleep, with so much noise from trains and cars. Breakfast was another hard no for me. This is apparently a Bed&Breakfast, but breakfast is served in their restaurant/cafe with no choices or substitutions, no juice, and terrible coffee. Anything beyond what they offer costs extra. I’ve never seen that setup at a B&B. Our server was rude and dismissive, like she wished we hadn’t come in. Other guests had the same questions and issues, so we weren’t alone in being disgusted. I can see why people might want to stay for the charm, but the noise and surroundings mean I wouldn’t go back.

The free daily brunch was served at the Bistro across the brick-paved street, and gaslights along the road gave everything a nostalgic, romantic feel. The historic house sits in a historic part of town and the suite was breathtaking. There’s a lower porch with iron railings and chairs, plus a second-floor veranda with matching railings, chairs, and a small table for eating or playing cards. I can’t list everything I loved. Visit their web page, it says so much more, and everything there is 100% accurate. I’ll be back again and again.

Our flight was canceled, but the staff helped make things less stressful by letting us leave our luggage in the lobby while they got a room ready for another night. They were very friendly and accommodating. It’s a beautiful historic hotel in a great downtown location, easy to explore on foot or on the nearby scooters.

The property is well located, with different room options in several buildings. We planned our stay around a special day and could have been anywhere downtown for the event, but we didn’t get the boutique hotel experience we expected. It felt more like a night at a Holiday Inn, anywhere and anytime. We didn’t get to try the breakfast mentioned at check-in. In the morning, staff told all the guests at once that we’d have to settle for donuts and coffee. Then every room got a wake-up call at 2:43 am. The phones in the empty rooms kept ringing nonstop until 8 am, so we didn’t sleep at all.

I love the ambiance here. The rooms are beautiful and each one I’ve stayed in has had its own look. I’d recommend this place to anyone, you can’t beat it. Update: another great stay. When I’m in the Mobile, Al. area, this is always where I stay.
