Best Western Plus Monahans Inn & Suites

The staff made check-in quick and easy, and everyone was welcoming. My room was spotless and comfortable, with everything I needed. I had a great stay at the Best Western Plus in Monahans and would happily come back.

The pool and hot tub were a nice way to unwind after driving, and the location just off I-20 is really handy. I could hear some highway noise, though, so light sleepers might notice it. Breakfast had the usual eggs, sausage, and waffles; it was average, and a few things could have been warmer. My room was clean, comfortable, and roomier than I expected, with a good mattress, strong WiFi, a fridge, and a microwave. Check-in was fast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A reliable place to stop in West Texas, and I’d stay again.

I got to Pecos, Texas late and accidentally booked the Best Western Plus in Monahans. There are two Best Westerns next to each other in Pecos, so I thought I’d picked the right one in the app. The Pecos desk couldn’t find my reservation, then figured out what had happened. I called Monahans to ask them to cancel it so I could book the Pecos Best Western instead. I’d only made the reservation about an hour earlier. The man who answered was rude and said they wouldn’t refund or cancel a same-day reservation. It should have been a simple call, but the way I was treated means I’ll never stay at that location. If the app I booked through doesn’t do something about it, I won’t stay at a Best Western or Best Western Plus again.

My work trip was seven hours away, and I’d booked two rooms for three nights. On the way, my tires went flat and put the trip in jeopardy. Expedia contacted the hotel manager when I tried to cancel, but the refund was rejected. Two days later I called the manager in good faith to ask for the $589.44 back, even if only part of it. He said he had no control over Expedia and would approve it if he could. Expedia reached out to him two more times to confirm his approval, but he still didn’t approve it. I’ve attached a photo of Expedia confirming that the manager lied. Don’t book here for a work trip, or any trip. The manager was scummy, pretending to help while sending me in circles with Expedia support.
