Lincoln Hotel Monterey Park Los Angeles

The bed is great and really comfortable, and the hotel's within walking distance of Chinese food and the community. The place is kind of run down, but it's the best you can get for that walkable location. I wish the floor were hard instead of carpet. The carpet is quite dirty, and my toddler's bare feet literally turned black.

We were two women staying at the Lincoln Hotel when, late at night, a strange adult man used a key card to enter our occupied room, saying the front desk had sent him to “check the room.” He knocked once while unlocking the door, which opened at the moment of the knock, without giving us reasonable time to respond. That can't reasonably be called a standard knock-and-wait or a misunderstanding. We were extremely frightened and left immediately that night with our luggage, without staying overnight. The staff member who had checked us in stood at the desk and stared directly at us as we left, adding to our fear and discomfort. We received no clear, direct apology or explanation. The hotel still had not responded or acknowledged responsibility even two days after we reported the incident to the travel agency. Please clarify whether “standard procedure” includes using a key card to enter an occupied guest room without the guests' explicit consent. We consider this a serious breach of guest safety and privacy. A “full refund” isn't compensation or an apology. Since we left right after the incident and didn't stay overnight, it only covers the unused charges. We received no apology from the incident through our departure.

The rooms are okay, but most of the bathrooms don't have a working latch. You can see that the latches are broken and haven't been taken care of. The room we got smelled like rotten mice. The website mentioned free breakfast, and we booked for four guests, so we expected breakfast for all four. The front desk guy said we would only get passes for two. We don't know how or why.

Very nice place, my favorite hotel in LA. I'll choose it again on my next visit!
