The Monterey Hotel

For the price, the King Suite was hard to beat, and we had a lovely view of the Marina. This is a Historic Hotel, so the standard rooms are a little tight; upgrading to a larger room is worth considering. Everything was close enough that we never drove once, including the Marina, just a 5 min walk away. We tried all kinds of great spots, from restaurants, bars and pubs to coffee and doughnut shops. Katie at the front desk helped us sort out parking nearby or valet and pointed us to places around town. Expedia had problems with our booking, so we highly recommend booking direct through the hotel. We had a fantastic trip and definitely want to come back. If you like history, being close to everything and good pricing, stay here!

We loved the gas fireplace in our unit. The staff were friendly, and the location is hard to beat. I also used the online options to upgrade the room level and arrange a late checkout.

We only stayed one night, so I’d like to return and see more of the area. The front desk gave us helpful tips about local places to visit and eat. The hotel’s age gives it a real sense of history, and our room was a decent size for an older property. It’s right in the heart of Monterey, which made the location ideal.

We caught the staff putting up Christmas decorations, which was fun to watch, and everyone we met was really friendly. The hotel has the heritage feel we like, and it’s in a great spot for walking around the harbor and doing some shopping. We’d definitely stay again.
