Holiday Inn Express Montgomery - East I-85 by IHG

The place needs a lot of work and, in my opinion, doesn’t meet Holiday Inn standards. I booked a room with 2 queen beds but got a king instead. There was no coffee pot in the room, and they were out of coffee in the entry and breakfast area. Even the sink in the eating area was dripping. The room itself was worn and dirty. There was dirty toilet paper in the bathroom and brown spots all over the walls, not rust. The shower felt claustrophobic and was worn, the sink barely drained, and the TV remote didn’t work.

The bed was really comfortable, and the hotel was quiet. Staff were friendly, and the location worked well for us. It had been refurbished recently, and breakfast was basic. A few things fell short: the shower caulking was stained and dirty, nearby restaurant choices were slim, and the entrance wasn’t marked very clearly. There was no coffee maker in the room. Acceptable hotel.

The staff were so friendly. My wife tore her sweater, and they gave her two little sewing kits so she could fix it. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and it was quiet. Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa were available all day. We’ll be back.

We were only a few rooms from the first-floor kitchen, where breakfast was being prepared, but it was still quiet. The bathroom was small, though it had everything we needed. The room had a good-sized refrigerator, but no coffee maker or microwave, which was unusual. Being right by the interstate was convenient. I’d been told that part of town wasn’t the best, but we had no problems. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, especially the sausage gravy and fluffy biscuits. The coffee machines grind beans for each cup, so the coffee was smooth with no bitterness. I asked about herbal or caffeine-free tea options, and a staff member checked for me. It would be nice to have more variety there. The TV had a good selection of channels, including some premium ones. I’d recommend this hotel.
