Days Inn By Wyndham Montrose

The beds were clean enough to sleep in, but that's about all I liked. The building looked nice from outside, while the lobby was dark and unwelcoming. We didn't hear about continental breakfast or find the eating area shown in the photos. The bathroom was a mess: hair on the floor and in the tub, grime behind the sink faucet, dirty walls, gum in the drain, and a shower head that barely sprayed. I wouldn't touch the hairdryer. Then I noticed the bedroom lamps were dusty, the bedside drawer was dirty, paint was chipped, and something like dried spit was on the mirror. There was also a big gap in the outer door, which would be awful in winter. We paid $250 for a room that felt like it could be rented by the hour. I wouldn't recommend this Days Inn.

The staff brought extra blankets and pillows when we asked, and the room had enough towels, soap, and other basics. Breakfast was fine, though a lot of it seemed to come from Walmart, which wasn't quite what I expected from a Wyndham brand. My kids liked it, though. The room itself was clean and smelled fine, and the AC, TV, bathroom fixtures, lock, and fridge all worked. There was no coffee maker, and some furniture seemed close to falling apart. The place is outdated and needs a thorough cleaning and some care. The immediate neighborhood felt a little seedy, but we had no problems. I'd stay again if needed, though I'd probably look elsewhere first.

We got a good night's rest on our long road trip. The room was warm, quiet, and had the basics we needed. Staff were friendly, polite, and willing to help with whatever came up. The price was a good value, breakfast was basic but good, with coffee and a waffle maker, and they welcomed dogs for a reasonable fee.

The beds were so bad that by midnight our backs hurt enough that we went out to the car for our camping mattress and slept on the floor. We regretted staying here, and the pain almost spoiled the rest of our trip. The room smelled of cigarettes and dogs, the ceilings were falling in, the toilet barely flushed, and shower water stood ankle-deep because it wouldn't drain. People gathered outside our room talking and yelling past midnight, and dogs barked in other rooms. Just don't stay here. Spend $20 more somewhere else.
