Super 8 by Wyndham Montrose

There wasn't anywhere to sit in our room except the bed, which was a downside. Out back, though, there were picnic tables where you could sit. Regular chairs or a bench would have made that even nicer. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the beds were good. Breakfast was decent. There were two kinds of brown bread, peanut butter as well as jam, and yummy pastries. It was still limited compared with what we're used to at European hotels, but better than breakfast at other American hotels we've stayed in. On the second morning the juice from the machine was warm. By day three there was no juice or boiled eggs, which was a shame because brown toast with eggs was our favorite option.

I understand things come up, and there was a note saying the front desk was away and to call. Still, after waiting about 10 minutes, I called again. Even a DoorDash delivery woman wondered aloud why nobody had helped me yet. I got in at 11 pm after a long day of driving and needed to sleep before an early start to my next destination. When I called again, he said he'd be there in another 10 minutes. He apologized for the delay, but the only offer for the inconvenience was a refund. I would've accepted if it weren't almost midnight and I didn't have to find another hotel and reservation. This was a quick stop, and I was very disappointed by the lack of care. I've stayed at other Wyndham hotels on this road trip without a problem. I know this is a budget-friendly hotel, but $120 is still a lot, and other hotels at that price have accommodated me much better. I've learned to choose a different branch.

The room's furniture was badly stained and dated, and it was a real turnoff for me. I'd steam clean or replace it. The room also smelled, the stairway was pretty dirty, and there was a strong incense smell in the check-in office. Breakfast was very basic. If I'd seen the room first, we would've stayed somewhere else.

It was okay, but our room was one of the smallest on the trip, and the hotel could use a refresh. Breakfast was limited, and the juice machine was out of order. Reusable dishes at breakfast would be nice.
