Ramada by Wyndham Monument

There was no hot water, and they offered us another night there as if that helped, even though we're 1,200 miles away. No thanks. Check-in had already taken 45 minutes at 10 p.m. on a Thursday, and the room was full of ants, moths, and spiders. The fridge didn't work, and the air conditioning couldn't get the room to the temperature we wanted. The curtains left part of the glass doors uncovered, so we used a hanger to keep people in the parking lot from seeing straight in. The door didn't lock properly, just had a wooden stick in it. The bathroom vent was loud and came on with the light. I can't believe Ramada and Wyndham let this hotel use their name. Worst hotel ever.

They charged me hundreds for smoking, even though I stayed in a small room with my two- and four-year-old children and have never smoked. The staff were shockingly rude and no help at all. The room wasn't clean, and the bed and pillows seemed older than me. Breakfast was just a couple of small packaged donuts, taken out and touched by a man's bare hands. I wouldn't trust my health in a place like this. This was the worst hotel stay I've ever had. I'd give it zero stars if I could, and wouldn't send my enemies here.

The room they first gave us smelled strongly of old smoke, despite being a non-smoking room. The lady at the desk had me sign so much paperwork that I felt uncomfortable, and when I asked to switch rooms there wasn't even an apology. The next room smelled awful, like sweat, and its sliding door wouldn't close. I asked for my money back, but was told that wasn't possible and that I had to stay, although I'd booked three nights. Expedia said the same when I called. After half an hour of calling and begging, they finally refunded me, but I still had to pay for one night, and got less than two-thirds back. I hadn't even been there an hour. Another woman at the desk was complaining about the same things, and she didn't even have towels. The room had looked great, rustic but clean.

We asked for a refund, left, and found another hotel, all within two hours. Now it's about 1:30 a.m. and I'm exhausted, but I feel like I have to warn people because these rooms are gross. There were mouse droppings in the bathroom and on the bed, and the room was generally dirty. The sofa bed still had dirty, hairy, used sheets on it, and the toilet wouldn't flush. The two employees we dealt with weren't very friendly either. I only gave it a star so I could write this. Take your money elsewhere. Trust me, paying $30 more is worth it.
