Americas Best Value Inn Pittsburgh Airport

The price was good, and I was able to leave my car there for a small fee while taking the hotel shuttle to the airport. The driver was great, but the pickup afterward was a mess. I called the desk after collecting my luggage, as instructed, and was told the van would arrive in 10 minutes. After waiting 30, I called again. The desk attendant said she’d try reaching him, and he showed up 15 minutes later. By then we should have been nearly back, but I checked my map and saw we were heading the wrong way. The driver said the desk had told him to take me to Microtel, which wasn’t right, and that this had happened with that person before. We turned around and went to the correct place. The driver wasn’t at fault; the desk attendant gave him the wrong directions.

I hardly ever leave a bad review, but this needs to be said. It took three rooms before we got one where the key worked, and the door locks were broken. It was cold and snowing, and all the rooms were outside access, so we kept running around trying to get another room. The room we ended up with was old and nasty. I checked for bugs, and thankfully we had a 4am flight. I told the front desk woman to cancel our reservation for the night we came back, and she said okay. We got back, picked up our car, and left, but 24hrs later there was a new charge on my card. A month later, I still haven’t gotten anywhere. I’ve been hung up on four times and told to call back when a manager is there. We’re going to take the loss. Please don’t stay here. I was just waiting to get out in the morning.

The room was dirty, smelled bad, and the towels were terrible. Everything about the place felt awful. At breakfast, the AC cover suddenly fell while I was sitting with my coffee. The old man at the desk then said he’d call the police, and I just laughed. When I asked why, he said I had only a few minutes to finish and leave, even though breakfast runs from 6am to 9am and it was only 7am. Then he watched me the whole time I ate. He was racist and disrespectful to me because I’m not the same race as him. I’ve never given a hotel a bad review before, but I’d give this place -10 stars if I could. What a trash place.

The rooms were okay, but there were plenty of problems. No toilet seat in the bathroom, a big peeling sticker on the tub, a bedside light that didn’t work, and the TV only had basic channels with a poor picture. One time when I asked them to change the sheets, the head of the bed fell forward. They never came to clean during my stay, and even getting towels was hard. Breakfast seemed old, and they got after you if you picked up a muffin to take back to your room, even though the breakfast room was dirty. I guess you get what you pay for since it isn’t very expensive.
