JP, the owner, was friendly and welcoming, and the inn had a cozy Vermont charm. The bed was comfortable, the shower was warm, and there was a pretty view of the lake. In summer, I imagine sitting on the porch would be lovely. We stayed for a snowmobiling weekend, and being right off the trail made access easy. Some rooms are reached by narrow stairs, so it may not work as well for people with mobility issues.

The lake view is stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset, and the whole setting has such a peaceful feel. Sitting on the deck, walking quietly by the water, or having a family meal inside all sound like ways to enjoy it. Hale Seymour Lake Lodge felt cozy and welcoming as soon as we arrived, with thoughtful details that made it comfortable and memorable. It seems well suited to families wanting time together, couples after a romantic escape, or friends looking for a retreat. If you’re thinking about staying, don’t hesitate. You’ll fall for the place when you arrive.

After a long day on the road, we arrived around 5 PM on a gloomy October afternoon. The host welcomed us, showed us around, and shared a fascinating history of the place. The grounds were lovely, and I only wish we’d had more time there. We were on a ten-day road trip, though, so one night was all we could manage. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. We went into Derby for dinner, then woke to a beautiful, cool morning. The pictures we took in the dreary weather don’t do it justice. I’d absolutely recommend it.

The owner was so accommodating when I called after working hours to book. Since it was a phone booking, Josh came all the way to meet us at reception and sort out the paperwork. The place is a bed and breakfast, with several breakfast options, and it was well priced for one night. He also makes amazing coffee. The vintage property feels like an antique museum, and it sits across from Seymour lake, which I heard is the cleanest lake in Vermont. It made for a perfect fall trip. Vintage lovers should visit for a blissful stay. I can’t wait to come back in summer!

The lake view is beautiful and really adds to the atmosphere. The lodge is about 28 minutes from Lake Willoughby and roughly an hour from larger cities like Stowe and Newport. I stayed in a clean, cozy room with a queen bed and private bathroom. The bathroom was spacious, though the sink took a while to drain after use. Continental breakfast is available in the mornings. It’s a great lodge for a nature focused fall getaway, and it really does live up to its name as the #1 Vacation Spot in Vermont. I’d stay again.
