Motel 6 Moriarty, NM

The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful, but the room was nowhere near what I expected. There was no real amenity beyond a bar of soap. The tub water wouldn't shut off, the toilet wouldn't flush, and even the phone didn't work if I wanted to call the desk. If you have another option, go somewhere else. I'm sure the manager will paste in the usual reply about being disappointed they fell short of expectations. All I wanted was a clean, comfortable room with a working toilet and water I could turn off. This room fell far short. Save yourself the trouble and drive farther.

The outlet in room 216 exploded when I tried charging my phone and burned my charger. The furnace air filters looked disgusting and seemed like another fire hazard, so I called the fire department because the place needs an inspection. I can only assume the other rooms are the same. The little fridge didn't work and was dripping water. The outlet extension was filthy, and the TV remote was nasty and wouldn't change channels. They refused to move me to another room, so I left. They also wouldn't give me five dollars toward replacing the charger. This place wasn't worth the $65 including tax, and I wouldn't rent it for five dollars. Please don't stay here. Pay $30 more for a better hotel if you have to, or sleep in your car, which is safer.

I paid $86 for a disgusting hotel after Google Maps showed $56. I was traveling for work and had to ask for a receipt in the morning so I could write it off. It was in the middle of nowhere by a highway. The place allows pets without charging a fortune, but there was hardly anywhere to walk my dog. After rain, the hallway carpet was left filthy. The room lighting made it feel like some strange institution cell. The chair at the front desk was so torn and dirty I wouldn't touch it, and the photo of the front desk online isn't even from this place. I bring my own pillow and blankets when I travel, thankfully, so I didn't have to lie on their bedding. When I went out to walk the dog in the morning, I got locked out because the staff member said the key doesn't work after morning. The desk staff I dealt with at check-in and the next morning had no customer service skills.

I wanted to like it, but the rooms aren't worth what they charge. The hotel across the street is better and costs less, and at least it has a microwave.
