Super 8 Morris

There's a cute family running the hotel ❤️ and there's coin laundry on site. The mirror on the wall was neat, and we had lots of showers during our six day visit. We also really enjoyed the coffee and breakfast. Bearbear's hotel travels ended at the Super 8 Motel in Morris, Illinois. She was at the top of the world before Trump Tower in bed, and management gave us a replacement room key when ours got lost. Thank goodness.

The bright new lobby feels welcoming, and the breakfast area looks great with a nice selection in the morning. I was impressed by the updates throughout: the rooms feel cleaner and more comfortable than before. It's a good value for the price, and I'll stay here again when I'm in the area.

I checked out as soon as I saw the condition of the room. There were pee stains all over the bathroom walls, dry blood and hair in the tub, and bugs or flies on the bed. The appliances were dusty, a window was broken, and the room smelled like an outdoor garbage bin. The hallway had damaged walls and carpet, and the lobby smelled terrible too. I was so grossed out I didn't even open the microwave or fridge or look in the closet. I wish I'd checked recent reviews before booking, and inspected everything before taking a two-hour nap. Wash your hair and clothes before going home, and don't spread bed bugs.

Dollar Tree is across the parking lot for sundries, and Starbucks and Dunkin are nearby. Panda Express is also just across the lot, a good choice for a healthy dinner. I've returned to this pet-friendly budget hotel because it's in a good location, especially the lovely neighborhood behind it, where I feel safe walking my two small dogs after dark. The Super 8 has supposedly been under renovation for 2-3 years and will probably stay that way a while longer, with small improvements over time. This visit there was new carpet, but I had to ask for a desk chair. I used to have a comfortable chair for reading in the room, but didn't this time. The continental breakfast is now so limited that it's not worth bothering with.
