Hampton Inn Raleigh-Durham Airport

Breakfast was disgusting, with badly burned eggs and many empty food containers. The bigger issue was the 3:30 AM shuttle. I called before booking and was assured it ran 24 hours and that 3:30 would be no problem, so I booked. At check-in, the woman signed me up for the 3:30 shuttle. Later, management said there was no 24-hour service and acted as though I was lying about the whole thing. When I showed up, they acted like I was crazy.

For $253 a night, this place wasn’t worth it. Someone’s laptop bag was stolen from the lobby, and the staff didn’t seem to do much to help. The room carpet was sticky, which was especially concerning since my cousin has severe allergies. The hotel allows dogs, and I saw at least six pass through the lobby. The place needs serious renovation. Parking is inadequate, so I had a long walk late at night. It wasn’t filthy, but it wasn’t clean either. There was a hair on the coffee station the whole time, so I skipped breakfast. The small, creaky elevator and a broken ice machine didn’t help. The TV didn’t work, and they had me fish around behind the dresser for a disconnected plug. I never found it.

We stay here for early flights because it’s a mile from the RDU airport entrance, with a straight shot to Terminal 2. The Waffle House is just 40 steps from the back door, which is the best part. Otherwise, it’s a typical Hampton Inn, including the usual free breakfast.

The rooms are decent, but parking sucks. My main complaint is how loud the morning workers are when they talk, laugh, and carry on with customers right there eating. I’m straight annoyed every morning.
