Comfort Inn Mount Airy

I was here for almost a week and am glad I chose this place. The room has an older hotel feel, but it’s spacious and set up well for a longer stay, with a microwave, fridge, wardrobe, and seating. It also worked easily for a wheelchair user. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including eggs, sausage, waffles, juice, coffee, and cereal. The staff were helpful and friendly, and room service was solid. I’d happily come back.

The room was unclean and had a strong moldy smell. We also had no hot water for the first three and a half days. I told the front desk on our first night, but she was rude, just shrugged, and said she wasn’t sure what was wrong. They finally fixed it on our last day, saying a shower regulator was the issue. They made us leave the room before maintenance would work on it. Worst trip ever.

We were passing through on the way home from vacation and wanted to see the old Mayberry sights. The motel is older, and it felt a little pricey compared with similar places. The woman at the desk was very nice and gave us a good tip for a seafood restaurant. The pool was clean and warm, though very plain. We had to ask to use it, but she kindly gave us the code and said to turn on the lights, that it was fine to go in.

The breakfast was good, and most of the front desk staff were nice, but the breakfast room got too crowded and the maids weren’t friendly. Our room was mostly okay, though one lamp was going out and the toilet wasn’t caulked right, which nearly made me fall. The bathroom was much too small. The whole hotel looks old and needs maintenance and some care. This was our first Comfort Inn stay in a while, and likely our last. It wasn’t worth what we paid.
