Super 8 Mt. Carmel IL

I didn't get a picture of the room, but the fridge was HUGE, and so were the beds. At 6'1", I really appreciated that. The manager was VERY NICE and helped me get a room that suited my needs. I was in town because my grandmother had just passed away, and the manager helped me a lot. The bathroom was W.O.W.!! HUGE!! Everything was clean and well kept. The town has a special spark, and if you need somewhere to stay and have the time, THIS IS IT!!

The room felt overdue for a deep clean: stained carpet, a strange smell on entering, and sheets that didn't feel fresh. The bathroom was worse, with old fixtures, weak water pressure, and grime in places that should have been cleaned. Noise went on all night, from people in the hall, slamming doors, and cars coming and going. The walls seemed paper thin. The AC barely worked and kept clicking on and off, making sleep harder. Staff made even simple questions feel like an annoyance. There was no urgency or friendliness, just the bare minimum. The lobby wasn't welcoming, and the breakfast area looked poorly touched up and restocked. For the price, the quality doesn't match. You get a bed and four walls, nothing else. It might get you through the night if you need a last minute place, but not if you want cleanliness, quiet, comfort, or a decent night's sleep. I travel enough to know basic standards, and this location doesn't meet them. Management could improve things with some effort, but until then I wouldn't recommend it.

After my partner and I had been in the room for an hour, I woke from a nap to find 7 to 8 bites across my face and body. We caught a bed bug in a cup and showed it at the front desk. The attendant, who is the owner, was rude to my partner when confronted and offered excuse after excuse: that no one had been in the room for two months, that he'd never heard of this problem, that maybe we'd brought the bugs, and that new furniture had just been bought for the room. He never took responsibility for my multiple bites or the bug we brought him.

**BED BUGS 2/19/26** After my partner napped while I worked, they woke with multiple bed bug bites. I pulled back the blankets and several bugs ran across the bed. I caught one and took it straight to the front desk. Even with the bug right there, the person checking me in, who I have reason to believe was the owner, tried to gaslight me, saying he lived there and had never had a bed bug problem, no one had been in the room for 2.5 months, and the room had brand new furniture. The check-in had already been unpleasant. I booked through a third party app, and he made me wait 20 minutes while arguing with the booker about taxes. He wouldn't check me in until I paid the extra taxes he said he was owed. I needed a room, so I gave in and paid. None of his later claims changed the fact that there was a bed bug infestation in the hotel.
