Aloft by Marriott Mount Laurel

The room was spotless, and the shared areas looked immaculate. At checkout, the front desk woman was so friendly and personable that it caught me off guard. I wish I’d remembered her name. Check-in had been friendly too. I’m in hotels about three nights a week all year, and this was a great visit, really amazing.

The service was impeccable, and snacks were available around the clock. The location was handy for getting to several places, and I liked the Drybar shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. But the beds felt old and uncomfortable. My larger husband sank so far into his that he nearly rolled off. There were no liners in the bins or ice buckets, and the only ice machine was on the first floor. We paid $800 for two days and were very disappointed. There are cleaner, more affordable hotels nearby.

Three weddings were going on that night, and the noise was unbearable. We got maybe four hours of sleep, with interruptions all night, then children were screaming in the morning. The room was dirty too, with ants and hair in the bed. There’s no carpet, so every sound carries through the room. The GM did nothing to help. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Never again. Don’t stay here.

The room was spacious and clean, the shower was hot, and the bed was really comfortable. Staff were friendly and the hotel was accommodating. The decor looks cool at first, but on closer look there were cracks, peeling paint, and badly done wall repairs. The ceiling was bowed from what looked like previous water damage that hadn’t been fixed properly. The room needs repairs or a refresh, and that cost it a star.
