Homewood Suites by Hilton Charleston - Mt Pleasant

We’ve had great stays at this Homewood Suites before and really like the property and location, but we won’t be back. During the Rose Bowl between Indiana and Alabama, both teams, the televisions went blank at halftime. I graduated from Bloomington High School (South) and studied at Indiana University, so I was pissed to miss the second half. My wife asked for a $75 refund for the pet fee, but the manager refused. I then saw we’d actually been charged $90 for our cute little dog, while the online booking rate is $75. You’d never know a dog had stayed in a hotel. Since our last visit, they’ve also removed the microwave from the breakfast area. My wife couldn’t heat the mocha she makes, and having her walk back to the room to make and heat it in the room microwave, then return to breakfast, wasn’t an option. The king bed in our suite was so high I could barely climb in, even though I’m almost six feet tall. My wife struggled too, so I made her a step from one of the sofa cushions.

My husband and I both thought this location was a winner. As a self-described Clean Freak, I was thrilled: the bath, kitchen, and bed were amazingly clean, without a speck of yuck. We needed extra pillows, and the desk clerk stopped what he was doing to find them, with a great attitude. I highly recommend this Homewood Suites and look forward to coming back.

Cathy at the front desk was fantastic, energetic and engaging, and made guests feel at home. The breakfast attendant did too, and our room was great. The hotel is two miles off the main strip, with a few shops and places to eat within walking distance, plus a quiet park setting and trails. It’s also two or three miles to the beach. We felt right at home. A++++++++++

Room 105 was quiet even with the elevator nearby, and the staff were great and accommodating. It’s a really good place to bring a dog. There’s a basketball court and a pool that’s bigger than a puddle but smaller than a lake. The location works well as a base for beaches and charleston, with shopping just across the road. Highly recommend if you’re visiting isle of palms.
