My husband and I were disappointed by the Fish House restaurant. We ate breakfast there because it was convenient for our itinerary, but the menu and service were poor. The prices were fair, though we expected better food, more menu choices, and better service. The hotel and rooms, on the other hand, were impeccable, with a great mattress, pillows, sheets, and cleaning. The resort itself is beautiful, with sunsets, a walk around the dock, a tempered pool, free parking, a shuttle downtown, and the impressive USS YORKTOWN right there. I still highly recommend staying at this beautiful Resort & Marina, and eating dinner elsewhere if you don't like the restaurant, as we didn't.

The location is stunning and the rest of the place was beautiful, but for $400-500 a night I expected more. We arrived at 3:20 pm for a 4 pm check-in, and understood they couldn't let us in early. They said the room wasn't ready and they'd call when it was, so we went to the shop next door and planned to hang out by the fire pit. At 4, there was no call. When we came back around 4:06, the man said it had been cleaned but not inspected, then went up to check it. We got into the room around 4:20. That wouldn't usually bother us, but spending that much for one night and then having to check out by 11 am makes being able to check in on time matter. We also found the AC wasn't working, even though it was set to 70 and the room was 80 degrees. The front desk said it had been acting up all day and sent a repairman, who got it working a little, but it still didn't work properly for the rest of the evening. Thankfully, our trip was in February and it wasn't super hot outside. The place has wonderful potential.

I was here for business and wouldn’t return. We arrived Thursday, March 5, and woke at 5 a.m. to find the bathroom and entryway flooded after a pipe burst. They moved us to another room a few hours later, but then the bathroom lights wouldn’t turn on. Early Sunday morning, March 8, someone was banging on our door with a Dominoes pizza at 1:30 a.m.

The shuttle was dependable and on time, and Reel inn was okay. The Fish House breakfast buffet was disappointing, and room service seemed short on staff. If you’re an AAA member or military, mention the discount before or during check-in, since they wouldn’t adjust it at checkout. The photos show chipping paint on a table. I’d still return.

The pool and hot tub areas were great, and there was plenty of parking. We had a wonderful quick weekend getaway. It’s easy to drive to several restaurants and fun spots, while the location still feels quiet and relaxing. The water taxi is right out back, and downtown is easy to reach.
