Four Points by Sheraton Mt Prospect O'Hare

After my flight was delayed more than 12 hours until the next morning, I needed somewhere to decompress and sleep. This place was fine for one night, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. The location was quiet, though farther from the airport than I expected, about a 12-minute drive. The room was clean, but the hotel felt dated and pretty no-frills. There was also a noticeable, odd patchouli-like smell in the halls, though it didn’t bother me much.

The hotel itself was adequate, with no other complaints, but the airport shuttle was the reason we booked. My wife and I were told about the free shuttle, then learned it only runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. We had to pay Uber $50 to get to the airport. The listing on the Marriott site is misleading. Buyer beware.

I’ve stayed here for years, so this week’s experience was especially disappointing. I found food stains on the sheets and what looked like bed bug larvae all over the bed. The reception and housekeeping staff were a problem, and the room inspectors after cleaning were worse. The hotel can be empty and still not properly cleaned, so I think the people responsible for checking housekeeping need to be replaced. This will be my last stay here. Once I reach my destination, I plan to see my doctor for a check-up, and if needed, I’ll sue the company. I’m sorry I can’t upload the photos saved on my phone.

I came in late afternoon to shower and change before an evening event, and found the shower’s body wash dispenser empty. The front desk called while I was getting dressed, and I told the employee about it. He offered to send someone to refill it, but I asked him to wait 30 minutes until I left. When I got back after midnight, it was still empty. I’m glad I travel with my own soap. Poor service.
