Wingate by Wyndham Wichita Airport

The first warning came at the pool, where we spotted two spiders, one about the size of an adult's palm. Staff removed them after we told them. The next morning my husband killed another spider near the door. When we checked into room 320, the space seemed roomy, but the floors were filthy. My kids' bare feet turned black after just a few minutes. The bathroom fans didn't work, and there were very few outlets. That night, from 11 PM until 2 AM, a group of guests slammed doors and shouted. Several people, including us, had to call the front desk. Then around 5 AM, a family member woke with a severe allergic reaction and swelling under her arm. When we told the supervisor, we were brushed off and told to “take Benadryl.” There was no concern or apology, just dismissal. We later had to get medical care, likely costing over $600, and antibiotics for the infection and fever that followed. The reception staff were friendly when we arrived, and we'd booked based on the good photos and reviews. Still, my family and I had a disappointing, concerning stay. Cleanliness and care were seriously lacking. If you're traveling with kids or elderly relatives, stay alert and trust your gut.

The hotel was a great deal, under $100 with taxes, and breakfast was included. The rooms were clean, the linens smelled fresh, and the pillows were fluffy. The decor felt modern and fresh, and the customer service was good. I'll come back when I need a place to stay in Wichita.

The hotel was clean and quiet, and it's near several nice restaurants and a neighborhood. The young man at the front desk was professional and very helpful. There were more positives than negatives, and I'd stay there again. A few things needed fixing: the shower plumbing seemed poorly installed, the water was hard to turn on and off, and the faucet was loose. One of the bedroom lamps also didn't work.

Front desk service was friendly and helpful, and they told me coffee was available 24/7, which helped this mom keep up with three girls at a sleepover. It was our second year staying here with the girls, and the rooms were nice and clean. The pool seemed clean too. The pool room gets very humid, but there's an outdoor seating area where you can get some air and still watch the pool. There were plenty of chairs and towels. Breakfast was good, with eggs, potato cubes, mini muffins, and lots of choices like waffles, sausage, toast, yogurt, and cereal. The French vanilla creamer with my forgets coffee was an added bonus. A good place for a quick layover at a good price.
